WHETHER OR NOT the new Netflix series You was actually any use or not, it has certainly kept people talking.
Released on the 26th of December, the series has managed to stay in headlines for the best part of a month, thanks to it’s uncomfortable subject matter which has strongly divided opinion. Penn Badgley, who stars as Joe Goldberg in the show, recently came out and said that he was very uneasy with the amount of fans who find his manipulative and emotionally abusive attractive, in spite of all of his awful qualities.
Even though Penn Badgley, the man who portrays Joe Goldberg in the show, has publicly spoken about how awful his character is, 14-year-old actress Millie Bobby Brown was swooning over the murderous stalker on Instagram this week, when she finally got a chance to catch up with the show. She said:

Naturally, everyone was wondering where the adults in Millie’s life are and why they aren’t intervening and trying to teach her that Joe’s behaviour is really inappropriate. Well, it turns out that the young Stranger Things star was only two episodes in, so she had no idea what the full extent of Joe’s behaviour was.
In a new statement, she said:
Hopefully this is teaching her about some of the early warning signs of emotional abuse and how jealousy isn’t actually as romantic as media and society have framed it for the last few decades.
An apology wasn’t really expected of her here, considering the fact that she’s a child, but at least she expressed regret at the thought of potentially upsetting anyone affected by this sensitive subject. That’s a lot more than most adults in Hollywood can do.
Millie Bobby Brown’s take on ‘You’ is a bit dodgy, but maybe we should leave her alone because she’s literally 14 >
